Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

This program provides counseling and psychosocial support to refugees and host communities, especially those from impoverished backgrounds who have endured violence, abuse, or neglect, often leaving emotional scars that hinder their ability to access help. RELON-Kenya prioritizes MHPSS by offering a safe space for healing and ensuring those fleeing persecution are heard. Addressing mental health is crucial, as its neglect often leads to devastating consequences, including suicide among men and women. The program includes a Para-Counseling Training component, equipping paralegals with essential counseling skills to complement their legal aid services. It provides foundational knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support, basic counseling techniques, trauma-informed care, and self-care strategies, while promoting a culture of resilience, self-love, and holistic support. By integrating legal aid with counseling, the program ensures comprehensive care for those affected.
