Peace Building and Conflict Transformations

The Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation Program is dedicated to equipping members of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) and refugees with essential skills in conflict prevention, analysis, transformation, and sensitivity. The program emphasizes non-violence, anti-bias practices, fostering harmonious relationships, reducing conflict, and building resilient communities ready to embrace peace and inclusivity. Our approach integrates Kenya's peace infrastructure, focusing on Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms and key concepts like diversity, inclusion, and anti-bias practices. This program promotes positive social interactions, reduces discrimination, and enhances peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities. 

Key activities include; Training as Peace Actors, this component empowers refugees and host community members to serve as mediators and advocates for peaceful conflict resolution and intake is done twice a year. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which promotes mediation and conflict resolution methods in line with Article 159 of the Kenya Constitution (2010). Peace Dialogues aim at creating forums for discussions that encourage mutual understanding and collaboration. RELON-Kenya has been at the forefront of training and empowering RLO leaders and refugees in peacebuilding and conflict transformation for several years with its civil peace partners. These collaborations have significantly enhanced the capacity of communities to address conflicts constructively and advocate for sustainable peace. The program has benefitted more 60 RLOs leaders and host communities trained as Peace Actors and Trainers of Trainers (ToTs).
